Physical Therapists at Stretch•me Clinic

Stretch•me Clinic is a physical therapy clinic where physical therapists and sports science specialists work together, with a primary focus on the musculoskeletal system (orthopedics).

Today, we will further explain who the physical therapists and sports science specialists at Stretch•me Clinic are, their professional background, and whether they undergo additional training before providing services at Stretch•me Clinic.

According to the Physical Therapy Profession Act B.E. 2547 (2004), the profession of physical therapy is defined as:
“A profession that involves examining, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating physical impairments in humans caused by disease conditions or abnormal movement; preventing, correcting, and rehabilitating deterioration and disability of the body; as well as promoting physical and mental health through physical therapy methods or the use of physical therapy equipment.”
It is a health science profession related to the prevention, treatment, and management of human movement.

All physical therapists must complete a bachelor’s degree program, which takes four years. The curriculum includes basic science subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology, and organic chemistry; foundational medical subjects such as gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, physiology, pathology, psychology, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, surgery, and medical ethics; as well as specialized physical therapy subjects such as movement science and electrodiagnosis and electrotherapy.

Throughout the program, physical therapy students must develop practical skills in various areas, such as the cardiovascular system and the musculoskeletal system, and complete clinical practice rotations alternating with university coursework until graduation.

After completing the program, graduates must pass a licensing examination and register with the Physical Therapy Council of Thailand in order to be legally authorized to provide treatment or rehabilitation services to patients or the general public using physical therapy methods. They are then entitled to use the professional title “PT” (กภ.) in their practice.

Sports science specialists are graduates with a bachelor’s degree in sports science, which also requires four years of study. Their education includes basic sciences, physiology, psychology, sociology, basic anatomy, biomechanics, and nutrition, with a focus on studying human body systems to apply this knowledge to exercise, training, and sports competition, as well as to structured and effective health care.

Both professions possess essential knowledge for prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and basic health care for the general public. What makes the physical therapists and sports science specialists at Stretch•me Clinic unique is their expertise in Manual Therapy, including hands-on techniques such as muscle stretching, joint mobilization and manipulation, and therapeutic massage based on specific medical principles. At Stretch•me Clinic, in-house physical therapists are responsible for conducting pre- and post-treatment assessments. Pain does not always result solely from muscle tightness; therefore, assessment by a physical therapist beforehand helps ensure that treatment is accurate and safe.

For individuals who wish to maintain their health or experience mild stiffness without severe or localized pain, Stretch•me Clinic also offers a variety of muscle stretching programs designed to suit different lifestyles and target groups, in the unique style of Stretch•me Clinic. After receiving services, clients will receive helpful advice and exercise recommendations to promote basic health and help prevent or alleviate potential injuries in the future.

To ensure that all treatments at Stretch•me Clinic meet professional standards, every physical therapist and sports science specialist must undergo specialized training, as well as additional skill and technique development, for no less than 4–12 weeks before providing services to actual clients. Therefore, you can be confident that the services at Stretch•me Clinic are delivered with the highest quality and genuine care for every client.

Note: The clinic can issue physical therapy medical certificates for insurance claims (please check your coverage rights and conditions with your insurance company prior to receiving services).
